In May of 2023 when I was 20 years old, I started to experience severe leg pain and numbness which led to paralysis in my leg.
After several months of being dismissed by different health professionals who told me that nothing could be wrong with me due to being so young, I was rushed to hospital where I found out that I had a rare form of sarcoma - small round cell sarcoma.
Since then, I have undergone 31 radiation doses, 41 doses of intense chemotherapy, 3 major surgeries and countless hospital admissions. After being denied by the public hospital system, I am now left with a targeted therapy treatment (Pembrolizumab and Lenvatinib) privately which is a significant cost to myself and my family.
In July of this year, my partner and I got engaged and are starting to plan our lives together. Additionally, I have 3 older brothers and a twin sister whom I love dearly. We are all hoping by having access to this treatment it will help us to experience more life together.
