2022 and Covid lockdowns were finally over. This was going to be a great year.
My son was getting married in February and my youngest daughter was expecting twins in October. Life was good and I was soon to be a grandma for the first time.
In April I had some issues with lower abdominal pain, constipation and weight loss. I visited my GP in May and after several tests was referred to a colorectal surgeon due to thickening of the omentim. I had to wait until August for an appointment.
During this time I found out my son and his wife were also expecting a baby in January 2023.
June with her family.
After waiting so long for the appointment followed by another round of testing I was diagnosed with high grade ovarian cancer. I have since completed six rounds of chemotherapy which have been successful but not without difficulties along the way.
The next part of the treatment is a two year course of Olaparib which unfortunately, because my genetic testing confirmed I have the rare BRIP 1 mutation and not the BRACA mutation, will not be government funded. The total cost of the medication over the two years is $168,000.00.
June, her Husband, and Granddaughter
I am asking for support to raise funds to help cover the cost of my ongoing treatment. I have a loving and close family, my husband, my two daughters, my son and three beautiful grandbabies. It is my wish to get well so I can be a part of their lives for as long as possible. Your contribution will be so gratefully appreciated.
